BRS will boycott PM Modi’s visit: Telangana’s ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on Friday accused the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Center of adopting an anti-state stand during the last nine years of rule. He said the party would boycott Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Telangana on Saturday.

Chief Minister K. Rama Rao, son of Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), claimed that Modi has taken an anti-Telangana stand ever since he became the prime minister in 2014. He alleged that the promises made to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act have not been fulfilled by the Centre.

He said Modi laid the foundation stone of a Rs 20,000-crore rail engine factory in Gujarat’s Dahod a year ago, while announcing a goods train coach manufacturing unit for Telangana worth just Rs 521 crore.

Rama Rao said that the rail coach manufacturing factory was to be set up in Telangana under the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganization Act. He said, Rs 20,000 crore factory for Gujarat while Rs 521 crore for Telangana, it seems that bailout has been given.

Municipal Administration Minister in Telangana Government said that the private company has set up coach factory in Telangana by investing Rs.1000 crores and the people of Telangana will not accept Modi if the factory is set up with Rs.521 crores.

He said the state government has provided 300 acres of land for setting up a tribal university near Warangal, but the plan has not been approved so far. While the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act mentions setting up of Tribal University.

Rama Rao claimed that Modi had insulted the ‘establishment of Telangana’ by saying that the Congress gave birth to the child (Telangana) but killed its mother (Andhra Pradesh). Rama Rao also discussed the alleged communal tension during Modi’s regime.

“We have decided that none of us will attend his (Modi’s) program tomorrow as he has given Rs 520 crore as alms which is an insult to the society of Telangana,” he said. Definitely we will boycott and will not attend their programme.

When asked about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent attack on BRS at a public meeting held in Khammam, Rama Rao questioned by what authority Rahul Gandhi was making policy announcements. He said, Rahul Gandhi came here and made policy statements. By what authority is he making such statements? Is he the Congress President? Is he the Telangana Congress State President? Is he a member of parliament?

Before joining the program, Modi will go to Bhadrakali temple to offer prayers. He will also address a public meeting.
