Formation of a health task force consisting of professional experts in the Federal Ministry of Health

A health task force consisting of professionals has been formed on the instructions of Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel. Dr. Syed Ali Farhan Razi was appointed as the Chairman Task Force.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health has said that the task force consists of 12 members in which medical experts are representing Punjab, Sindh, KPK Balochistan, GBAJK and ICT. He said that on the direction of the Health Minister, the first meeting of the Health Task Force was held in which the Cyclone Biparjoy was also reviewed.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health has said that during the meeting, Dr. Sabina Durrani briefed about the NEOC meetings. All the measures taken by Sindh Health Department were informed. The federal government will provide all kinds of support on the request of the Sindh Health Department. Recommendations and suggestions were compiled by the members of the task force.

He said that instead of setting up medical camps, steps are being taken to make hospitals and existing infrastructure able to bear the load. During the meeting, experts said that special attention should be given to marginalized groups like women and children. In the meeting, it was proposed to focus on human resource medicine for disease surveillance and local preparedness. A meeting will be convened immediately to assess the work of the partners already working. Immunization will also be 100% guaranteed.

In addition, the need to take measures to treat water-borne diseases and snake bites was emphasized. The spokesman said that it is common to ignore wash and hygiene rules during natural calamities, which should be accounted for in preparedness plans.

He said that the National Health Organization will be activated immediately to report the disease. The experts of the meeting also agreed that a focal person should be identified in Sindh for the purpose of coordination in this regard, PIMS is available for any assistance on the request of Sindh Health Department. He said that the W Group of Industries has promised to give 10 lakh doses of multivitamins to the affected population. The Chairman recommended that the summary of the proceedings of the meeting should be submitted to the Federal Minister.
