Geeta Press is not just an organization, but a living faith: PM Modi

Prime Minister Modi praised Geeta Press: Describing Geeta Press as a force for India’s unity and representing the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Geeta Press is the only printing press in the world, which is not just an institution but a vibrant society. There is faith.

Addressing the concluding program of the centenary celebrations of Geeta Press on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, Geeta Press conveys the basic thought of India to the masses in different languages. Geeta Press in a way represents the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat’.

He said, Geeta Press is the only printing press in the world, which is not just an institution but also a living faith. The office of Gita Press is no less than a temple for crores of people.

The Prime Minister said, an institution like Geeta Press is not only associated with religion and work, but it also has a national character. It unites India, strengthens India’s solidarity. He said, the spiritual light which was ignited here in the form of Geeta Press in 1923, today its light is guiding the entire humanity. It is our good fortune that we all are witnessing the golden century of this humanitarian mission.

Modi said, there is Gita in its name as well as in its work, and where there is Gita, there is Krishna in person. Where there is Krishna, there is compassion, there is action. There is realization of knowledge as well as research of science. He said that Geeta Press is still following Gandhiji’s advice not to take advertisements for ‘Kalyan’ magazine.

Modi said, this is the time to be free from the mentality of slavery and take pride in our heritage. Today, on the one hand, India is making new records in digital technology. So at the same time, the divine form of Vishwanath Dham in Kashi has also appeared in front of the country after centuries. He said that my visit to Gorakhpur this time is a wonderful example of the policy of development as well as heritage. State Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present during this.

Recently, a jury headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the award of Gandhi Peace Prize 2021 to Gita Press. Instituted by the Central Government in the year 1995, this annual award carries a cash amount of one crore rupees, a citation and a plaque and an outstanding traditional handicraft or handloom product.

Geeta Press had refused to accept the award money and said that it would only accept the citation.
