Amarnath News: The Amarnath Yatra was postponed for the second consecutive day on Saturday due to continuous rains in many parts of Kashmir. Yatra remained suspended for the second consecutive day on both the routes- Pahalgam and Baltal due to bad weather. No devotees were allowed to go towards the Amarnath cave on Saturday morning.

According to officials, due to the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, no fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed to proceed from Jammu. The highway has been blocked due to landslides caused by the rains.

Earlier, on Friday also, the Amarnath Yatra was suspended on both the routes due to rain at many places in Kashmir and pilgrims were stopped at Baltal and Noonwan base camps. The landslide had occurred on the Baltal route of the yatra following heavy rains in the area. However, there is no information about any casualty during this period.

According to officials, the number of pilgrims who have visited Baba Barfani has crossed 80,000. The 62-day annual pilgrimage to the cave shrine, located at an altitude of 3,888 meters in the south Kashmir Himalayas, began on July 1 through both routes at Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district. This yatra will continue till 31 August.
