No threat to me if Ajit Pawar joins Maharashtra government: Eknath Shinde

Maharashtra politics: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday said there is no threat to him if Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar joins the Shiv Sena-BJP government in the state. Commenting on NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s rebellion against his nephew Ajit Pawar, he said parties break up when hardworking workers are neglected.

Such things happen when hardworking party workers are ignored, Shinde said. Ajit Pawar himself has said that it was Sharad Pawar who first wanted an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2017, 2019 but later took a ‘U-turn’.

He also pointed out that Sharad Pawar himself rebelled against the then chief minister Vasantdada Patil in 1978 and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in 1999. Rejecting speculation that he may be removed from the chief minister’s post, Shinde said these were baseless rumors and he was not worried about it.

Ajit Pawar

He said that Shiv Sena and BJP led by him are bound by ideology. He said, now together with the third ally, we have to work firmly and make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister again in 2024…. We have to win more than 45 out of 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra.

He said that Ajit Pawar has joined the government because of the development work being done by his government. Shinde said, Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah made me the chief minister, and now with Ajit Pawar joining the government, we have become stronger. A lot of work has happened in the constituencies of our MLAs in the last one year.
