BJP on target of Uddhav Thackeray: A week after Ajit Pawar and some other Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLAs rebelled against the party and joined the Eknath Shinde-led government in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said he would see Waiting to see how the Bharatiya Janata Party handles its ‘new toli’.

In June 2022, the Uddhav-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government fell due to a rebellion by MLAs led by Shinde, and the Shiv Sena split into two factions. Shinde later became the chief minister with the support of the BJP. On July 2 this year, there was a rebellion in the NCP led by Ajit Pawar and he joined the Shinde government as deputy chief minister.

Eight other NCP MLAs took oath as ministers in the Shinde government. Regarding the ruling BJP, Uddhav said, I don’t think the BJP is worth saying anything about it. He has no right to lecture us. I am just waiting to see how BJP handles its new team.

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar on Saturday said 40 MLAs of the Shinde-led Shiv Sena and 14 of the Uddhav faction have been issued notices seeking their response on disqualification petitions against them. On petitions seeking disqualification of 16 Shiv Sena MLAs, Uddhav said the Supreme Court has already given a roadmap to the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker.

The Speaker will have to take a decision on the issue of disqualification within the stipulated time frame, he said. If he ignores it, the doors of the Supreme Court are always open for us. The Shiv Sena (UBT) had recently moved the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the Speaker to expedite the hearing of disqualification petitions.
